Kevin Harter is the Executive Director for AGE-WELL’s National Innovation Hub: Advancing Policies and Practices in Technology and Aging (APPTA) located at York Care Centre. Kevin has over 15 years of experience in the Long Term Care industry and is currently the President and CEO of York Care Centre and their group of companies. York Care Centre provides a community of care to the Fredericton area that includes long term care, assisted living, independent living and community outreach. York Care Centre has long been a leader for Innovation in aging care.
Under his leadership York Care Centre was the first home in New Brunswick to implement the MDS/RAI system and provide their information to CIHI (Canadian Institute for Health Information). He developed a research division at York Care Centre to focus on ensuring that the needs of their residents are being met. This research division led York Care Centre participation in a CFHI Pan Canadian Appropriate Use of Antipsychotic medication project that resulted in a reduction in the use of Antipsychotics at York of nearly 50%. This program was later spread to all of the homes in New Brunswick. He sits on the CIHI Home and Continuing Care Advisory Committee.
Kevin Harter brings with him a passion to effect change in the way things are done in Long Term Care that will ensure quality of care and quality of life for residents in a sustainable system.
